On last Tuesday evening the Rio Hondo city council passed a motion to transfer the title of their old brush truck to the Arroyo City Fire Department and presented the title to Chief John Whelan. Chief Billokury of the Rio Hondo Fire Department handed the keys over after the council meeting. Chief J Whelan, Assistant Chief Chuck Whelan, Captain Mark Hammond, Lieutenant Diane Sheehy, PIO Yvonne Peck and Firefighter/EMR Terri Overstreet were on hand for the occasion. The ACVFD is grateful for the donation and thanks the city of Rio Hondo for their generosity.
This acquisition gives the department another tool to protect the community. Firefighters will be trained on the new equipment this month and the truck will be put into active service within two weeks. Work continues on a second brush truck with a projected completion by month’s end.
